An Ode to the Twins!

 April 1st... 

A day most people imagine as a day of laughing, pranking and being beware of pranks. True! But (there's always a 'but' in these articles, isn't there?)  after reading the ever famous series of Harry Potter, it also became the day the ever famous pranksters 'Fred & George Weasley' were born. I always thought, what was April Fools like for them?

Here's an original story, depicting this joyous day before and after tragedy.

"Oi! Wake up, blockhead!" George groaned. "What's the matter, Fred?" "Oh , Georgie, you forgot what day it is, didn't you?" Suddenly George was wide awake. "Blimey, you're right!" He bolted upright. 

"It's April Percy's Day!" Fred snorted. "Ha! Jokes aside-" "Jokes aside?! Jokes aside?! Honestly, I don't know how you call yourself my brother-" "Oh whatever. I've got the perfect pranks planned out! We're going to turn Hogwarts upside down!" 

Suddenly, Ron and Harry entered the room. "Happy Birthday, you two! What are you up to today?" Ron said curiously, as the twin's birthdays were never a boring day. Fred went up to him. "Oh Ronnikins! I hope you got me what I think you got me?" He tears it open. "Perfect! A box filled to the brim with tricks!" 

Harry suddenly appeared sheepish. "I got you the same actually... maybe I can get it exchanged?" George gave a dramatic gasp. "Potty, there's nothing better than more tricks! Now vanish, before we offer you a Puking Pastille or two!" Ron and Harry disappeared, snickering. 

"Right, so I was thinking, replacing all of Snape's black cloaks to neon pink!" Fred grinned. "Wicked! Oh, and how about charming all the suits of armor to do a stupid dance whenever someone says 'Potter'!" "Geniuses, that's what we are! Oh, how about ..." The morning went by, tricks being planned. 

Then the twins set off on their chaotic mission, Hogwarts buzzed with laughter and confusion. Even McGonagall had to hide a smirk when a neon-pink Snape stormed through the corridors. It ended with a spectacular show- courtesy of the Weasleys' Wildfire Whiz-bangs!

But that was then.

April's Fools wasn't the same. The Birthday cake didn't have a ridiculous boogey flavor in the middle. George sat in the quiet of the Burrow, a joke half-formed on his lips before fading away. The world was different now.

Still, as he gazed at the sky, he could almost hear Fred’s voice. "Come on, George, don’t let the day go to waste. What’s life without a little mischief?"

And so, with a heavy heart but a small smile, George picked up a box of fireworks.

"For you, Fred."

With a flick of his wand, the sky lit up in reds and golds, laughter echoing through the night—because even in loss, the spirit of the Weasley twins would never fade.
